Our Story “We pinch ourselves every day!”
New owners, Sacha and Spencer, have just begun their second season at the Porthcurno Beach Café, having reopened the doors this Easter. The cafe has been spruced up having undergone a major renovation over the winter months in time for the 2018 spring/summer season. Its new hipster beach theme is very on-trend…but there's more to this couple than meets the eye. The story of their journey to Porthcurno is a very interesting one and will inspire those, like themselves, seeking a lifestyle change. In the Beginning… Sacha, originally from Australia met Spencer, a Brit, in the early 1990s whilst she was travelling in Europe. They married soon after and by the mid-90s had moved to Canada. Not only did they began building a life together in a new country, they started a business too. As the years passed by, the business grew as did the demands and stresses of raising a family and running a successful company. They both became increasingly dissatisfied with their corporate lifestyle until one day when they decided enough was enough! They wanted change and began making plans for a new lifestyle, a better way of life, so they sold their successful company and began making plans to turn their dream into reality. Now the hard part…what were they going to do and where would they do it? Once Entrepreneurs, Always Entrepreneurs! Sacha and Spencer knew that whatever they decided to do in the future, they still needed to make a living, the secret was to do something they both enjoyed in a beautiful location. Easy, right? They began trawling the internet for business opportunities and one day in October 2016, Sacha discovered a café for sale in the UK, which immediately piqued her interest. Not only were they willing to change careers, they were prepared to move to another country - again! Although the café was a turnkey business, they recognised the business potential, but more importantly the lifestyle this little beach café could offer them. The sale was finalised in February 2017 and the rest, as they say, is history. Sacha and Spencer count their blessings every day knowing they are living their dream, and in one of the most beautiful places in Britain. They have no regrets about leaving their corporate life behind, instead they’re enjoying every moment being a part of a new community, meeting new people from around the world and forging new friendships.
